Mr. Rocco, a native New Yorker, discovered his love of the performing arts, especially  dancing, as a very young child. Performing gave him a smile that began in his heart, which shined through his dancing. No matter what else he found happening in his life, he could get lost in the dance. He is a member of the Actor’s Equity, Screen Actors Guild, and AFTRA. Since age 10, he has enjoyed a professional acting/dancing career in national television advertising in commercials for Burger King, Wendy’s, Jell-O, Ray-O-Vac, Hires, Bubble Yum, and as the Hi-C Kid. He performed in a national touring production of Jerome Robbins’ West Side Story, was a contestant on Star Search, and performed in many industrials. He has performed along side celebrities such as Sammy Davis, Jr., Nell Carter, Lola Falana, Debbie Gibson, Jack Wagner and Prince. His professional acting training includes the renowned The Acting Studio Inc. in New York City.

His founding of Broadway Bound Dance Center in 1990 was the beginning of his dream come true. His first location was in a modest VFW building with 20 students. He continued to expand his curricula and his student enrollment, relocating BBDC to larger spaces and finally in 2009 constructed a beautiful state of the art studio in Dumont.

No two youngsters are alike whether they are toddlers, small children, bigger kids, pre-teens, teenagers or young adults. At Broadway Bound Dance Center, we take great pride in providing quality dance classes for children, kids, pre-teens, teens and adults. We focus our attention on the specific needs and goals of each individual student—no matter what his or her age may be. It is a pleasure to take the time to engage every new student and parent in a discussion about his or her interests.

We enter into every new student relationship as well-informed teachers. This enables us to design a curriculum that is inspiring, motivating and sure to keep the student’s interest. We find this practice to be very valuable when placing our students. Most of all, we want them to love what they are doing. If they love what they are doing, they will have fun and that’s what keeps an individual interested in any activity.

Meet Your Director

Rocco Santorufo
Studio Director and Owner

During the past 26 years he has passionately pursued his love of choreography and its’ translation into the art of dance. Knowing the universal movement of dance has no language barrier, he has been able to teach, to inspire, dancers of all ages, from cultures all over the world.

He and the dancers at Broadway Bound have given back to their community with events such as “Ballerinas Give Back” . Dancers make and donate gifts to children in local hospitals. Broadway Bound Dancers have donated their time to perform for Seniors at assisted living venues, on Dumont Day, held very successful food drives, just to name a few.

So, now Mr Rocco has gone full circle. From a child dancer finding his way to the performer, then teacher and now is fervently committed through dance, to giving his students the opportunity to find their own path, what makes their heart sing, and what stirs their sense of purpose. Mr Rocco, is passionate not only about dancing but making a difference in the lives of the students who dance at BBDC. He remembers well from his own experience as a child dancer, that the art, the skill, the thrill of discovery in learning to control your body, how that movement “speaks” to yourself and others, contributes to a healthy, invaluable sense of self respect, self- esteem and confidence so necessary for survival and success in this ever more competitive world.
